What is Songbird Kids?

Songbird Kids is an independent music education company committed to fostering the inherent musicality of every young child through movement, music, instruments, and play.

Offerings:

• Weekly, interactive family classes for infants & children (up to age 6)
• Weekly/bi-weekly music & movement classes for your school, daycare center, homeschool co-op, or play group (ages 18 months-6 years)
• Week-long family summer camps for infants & children up to age 6
• Professional Development Presentations for Early Childhood Educators

Rachel, founder of Songbird Kids, received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Early Childhood Education) from Texas A&M University in 2006. Before moving to Waco in 2010, she taught 4th grade in Richardson ISD, where she and her husband grew up. 

Rachel's musical journey spans over 30 years, including piano, violin, and vocal performance. She started singing at 3, playing the piano at 6, and fell in love with the violin at 8. Her fun-loving and empathetic personality shines through in her evidence-based teaching style, which embraces a play-centered approach to music, rhythm, and instrument exploration, meeting each child where they are.

Rachel lives in Chicago with her husband Mike, their two children, and their dog. Mike is the Director of Academic Initiatives at Interfaith America. Their kiddos are budding artists and performers in their own right. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys attending (and occasionally performing in) musicals, exploring local parks with their dog, listening to child development podcasts, and reading historical fiction novels.
